This last week has been an exciting one for me! First, my new vest pattern is the winter issue of Creative Knitting:
The vest's offical name is Center-Stage Stripes:
This seamless vest is worked in the round from the bottom up to the armholes and then the front and back are worked flat separately. The shoulders are seamed with my dear friend, the three needle-bind off, to keep this baby seamless. The armhole and neck ribbing are worked in the round after the main body of the vest is knit.
Hip and waist shaping help flatter are curves and the skinnier and skinnier stripes keep our eyes moving toward the face.
My friends at Blue Sky Alpacas were gracious enough to provide yarn support for this design. Their Sport Weight yarn, in Eggplant and Avocado, is absolute heaven in yarn form:
At 6 stitches per inch, this is the perfect layering piece. I also mention that this would be the ideal summer tunic if you worked it in cotton. Or, if more warmth is the goal, work a matching cowl.

The incredible rate those kids have improved their playing in the last year is just staggering. Real music. All the time. It is just lovely.
On an absolutely, completely non-related note, look at these incredible heels I just saw in the November issue of Elle magazine:
Straight from the copy: "...these hand-painted Roger Vivier silk pumps, inspired by designer Bruno Frisoni's own vacation snap [shown above] of a Tangier sunset." Only $2,525! That is a mighty big pile of yarn....
