I was honored to be featured in a couple magazines this month. First up is a wonderful Billings' magazine, Magic, the September issue:

My book is featured on page 11:

The ever popular and super speedy Keyhole Scarf is pictured.

I also had an unexpected visit from an old friend. I was on an airplane to Arizona looking at the latest issue of Knit 'n Style Magazine:

I was minding my own business when I saw this pic:

I said to myself, "That's the blingy yarn I used for my cable hat and cowl with Premier Yarns. Man, I really should knit myself one of those sets. At least the slouch before winter hits this year. Funny, that designer used the same type of cable I did as well." Then I looked at the blurb to the left that started with, "Designer Kim Haesemeyer....' I nearly fell out my chair! Don't you love it as a wrap instead of a scarf or cowl? Too cute!

Since I was by myself, I immediately had to to text my mom and Dan (even though we were just about to take off and those things were to be in the off position, you know). I figured everyone would really have preferred that to me standing in the aisle doing a Happy Dance. Don't you think?

I had a wonderful afternoon yesterday chatting about knitting and my book at Barnes & Noble:

Lorrie at Barnes & Noble did a fabulous (as always!) job of hosting the reception and, as promised, there was cake!!

The samples from the book sat proudly by, taking their job very seriously:

I briefly talked about my previously published designs and how the whole process of submitting to yarn companies/magazines/publishers works.

One of my dreams ever since I started working there 16+ years ago is to have my very own book on the shelf. It is now a reality and Wade recorded it for me for all posterity, sitting handsomely in the craft section:

Signing and Discussion at Barnes & Noble

A reminder that today, Saturday, September 8th, I am having a book discussion and signing at Barnes & Noble from 2-4. I'll be talking about the design process as well as the road to getting my book published. If you need an excuse to eat cake, this is it! My kids could not be happier about that factor. I am so honored and thrilled to be featured in the Billings Gazette today with an article Designing a Life Through Knitting.

Out of the blue they asked me to film a video as well, so what you see is from about 8 minutes notice. Ack! Looking back, it was good I didn't know earlier or I would have obsessed about it but instead it was over before I even knew what hit me. Thanks to Ren at Purl Yarn Boutique for letting us invade for the video and to Julia at Wild Purls for letting us take the picture for the paper.

In the article I chat about knitting and my new book including a signing/discussion I will have at Billings' Barnes & Noble Saturday, September 8th, from 2-4. I would love to meet you ... and there will be cake, so you'll see my kids as well.
