A friend of ours let us borrow his cabin on the Stillwater River. This is the incredible view from the back patio where I knit and knit and knit:
Everyone else was quite brave and tubed the river:
We went on a lovely hike. This is my favorite picture of the trip:
I never tire of the sound of the river water. Wait, no, here is my favorite pix of my peeps:
Kate, the tree girl:
Wade enjoying the view as well:
Dan insisted on documenting the fact that he put his feet in the freezing water. But I had to document the brilliance fast:
Switching gears, I am so excited to report my copies of my book came in:
Both Wild Purls and Purl Yarn Boutique have their copies if you are in Billlings. If you are not, Joann's is going to carry it or Amazon or Barnes & Noble has it as well.
I am excited to announce I am going to have my first signing at Purl Yarn Boutique on August 17th! Ren is going to chat about all the new fabulous yarn happenings she learned about at TNNA this summer and I will sign books at 6 pm. Last summer I totally enjoyed it, learning before the rest of the world what was new and happening in the yarn industry. Please stop by if you can. I would love to meet you.
Also at Purl in August, I am teaching two classes. The first is August 18th, Saturday, from 10-noon. We will be discussing the Color-Changing Scarf and the mittens from Keyhole Scarf & Cozy Mittens. Since both projects have the same gauge and such a large gauge at that -- 3 stitches per inch -- these are the perfect projects to get a jump on gift knitting.
The color changing in the scarf is a fun extra. Two strands of yarn are held together as one throughout the entire scarf. This is a perfect project to get loud and funky with color!! It is easy to customize and make as neutral or frilly as required.
You will learn how to knit in the round with double pointed needles (easier than it looks!) for the mittens. These babies are seamless.
On August 25th also from 10-noon is the Three Piece Gift Set:
We will be discussing knitting in the round with circulars (slouch hat) and double pointed needles (shaping for slouch hat and mittens). The hat and mittens are seamless and the scarf is worked flat. I worked Ren's sample in the ultra fabulous Vintage Colors by Berroco.
The self-striping yarn does all the work. Hooray!
Participants of all my classes will get tips and tricks for all the projects that aren't found in the book.
For more information about the classes, please call Purl Yarn Boutique at 406-652-4876. More information is coming soon on my September classes.
Knit on!
