Finally, Virginia, I was able to seam the green pants for baby #1 in my family:
Whenever I design anything with hand dyed yarns, I always state to alternate balls every two rows because of subtle color variations that can't be seen in the skein, can show up in the final knitted garment. So, did I follow my own advice? Heck, no! It is so apparent to me now -- look how bright the inside panels are compared to the outside panels. What a difference! One hank is the bright color and a second hank is the duller color. Thankfully, when seamed, the bright panels were both the fronts and the duller panels were both the backs.
To review, this yarn is the most yummy merino superwash, Green Label Aran Weight from Tanis Fiber Arts in the Lemongrass colorway. The official name of these pants are Studio Loungers by Kat Coyle.
They have some cute details I will share as well. Elastic is sewn in a tube after being thread through the top "tunnel" that was created by folding over the top inch or so of fabric:
Two I-cord strips were knit of about 6" or so and then seamed to the elastic when the elastic is pulled out from the above pic:
So that when the elastic relaxes back into the pants, the end of the I-cord does as well. When tying the I-cord, it does pull on the elastic as well.
I bought the cutest Robot sweatshirt to put on top:
And off it went to Baby #1! Whoo hoo! This is the scariest picture of all, however. Look how much yarn I had left:
My needles were quaking.
Knit on.
