It was a big deal around here today -- the first day of school!
Paul started 6th grade, Kate 1st and Wade 5th. We are all getting so big I can hardly stand it. My dad has come every year when school starts since Paul started school, which works out great for me. Then I don't cry (too much) and send them happily on their way without them wondering what in the world is wrong with their mother.
We have had such a lovely visit with my dad. He and I had an adult only lunch today!! Amazing! Real silverware! Real food! Truly perfect.
In other news, I realized I never posted pictures of our previous camping trip:
Everything was so pretty as usual in Woodbine.
Of course I use the wood "camping" in the most liberal sense, as our friends that let us borrow their camper last time, turned in their perfect camper for a larger, more perfect camper:
Truly perfect. The kids wanted me to show you this fabulously weird tree:
Any camping trip isn't complete without the who-can-hold-their-feet-in-the-ice-cold-river-the-longest contest:
Or, fishing in the rain is also a necessity:
Knitting did actually happen, though also in the most liberal sense of the word. Behold the Marshmallow Scarves:
This crazy stuff (I truly cannot in good faith call it yarn) is called by Marshmallows by Knitting Fever. It was on sale at Wild Purls and I told Kate she could pick two colors.
Here is a close up:
You knit the strands between each "marshmallow" and it turns into the pink fabric. I had them both finished in 1 1/2 hours. Perfect brain break from all my designing stuff.
We will end with three handsome guys, taming the wild outdoors:
Knit on.
